There comes a point when the winter has been long and snow is on the ground far longer than the norm, that one has to, no NEEDS to plant something outside just to prove there will indeed be spring. Today was that day! With the cover of the septic tank providing a warm foundation, straw banking the sides of a large pot covered with a plastic bin I planted Swiss Chard! It almost became an immediate failure as the straw refused to stay put, but with a few rocks and blocks that weren't frozen in place I cobbled together a retainer.
